Life lessons to learn from this auspicious festival: Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi—the name itself sparks joy all over. All the devotees of Lord Ganesha come together irrespective of their differences and celebrate this festival with great joy and unity. People believe that Lord Ganesha visits their homes during this period. People welcome Lord Ganesha into their homes with great pomp and ceremony. Devotees offer Lord Ganesha 'Modak' which is the lord’s favorite dessert. Also, there is a positive vibe enveloping the entire environment. People worship, sing devotional songs, chant different mantras, perform aartis in his honor, and seek his blessings.

Let's emphasize Lord Ganesha's significance.

Lord Ganesha, the God of intellect and wisdom, is an exceptionally unique and revered deity who is profoundly worshiped by everyone, loved the most by children.

He is also known by various names. Each name highlights a different powerful aspect about him...
Vighnaharta - Remover of all obstacles
Ekdanta - Single tusked God
Gajanana - Elephant faced God
Heramb- One who gives confidence to the weak and hope to the poor.
Lambodara - Lord with huge belly
Siddhivinayak - Bestower of success

His physical attributes alone are loaded with symbolism that teaches us a lot.

The enormous elephant head of Lord Ganesha symbolizes wisdom.

His small eyes symbolizes focus i.e. in order to succeed at anything, one needs to have persistent concentration and foresightedness.

His large ears and small mouth serve as a reminder to listen more and speak less.

Lord Ganesha's huge belly symbolizes the entire universe and it's magical quality of embracing everything in life whether good or bad.

His two tusks represent different facets of life. The left tusk stands for emotion, and the right tusk is for wisdom. And the broken left tusk symbolizes one must conquer emotions with wisdom.

The trunk of Lord Ganesha symbolizes both strength and kindness.
For instance, we have seen elephants uproot trees (strength) and gently lift people with their trunks as well as bestowing blessings on everyone with their trunk (kindness).
The image of Lord Ganesha has a mouse as his chariot. Why does Ganesha have a mouse-shaped chariot despite having such a large body?
Have you ever given it a thought?
Mouse is known for its disturbed restless hyperactive nature which strongly correlates with the qualities of human mind.
In the image, Lord Ganesha is shown sitting over the mouse and controlling it.
Similarly, like Lord Ganesha we should be able to govern our minds with our intellect.

Let's make an effort to incorporate all of these teachings into our daily lives, and while celebrating this wonderful festival let's not forget to spend  few moments peacefully with Lord Ganesha's heavenly form and try to bring together our energies with his higher energy, which will transform us into a new, blissful being.
The Lord Ganesha statue is submerged into the water to mark the end of the event.
It's incredibly moving to see people with teary eyes and praying hands asking the Lord for his return next year. We all know that - Waiting for someone is the hardest thing of all, but waiting for Lord Ganesha to arrive is an emotion that cannot be described in words.
Happy Ganesh Chaturthi 🙏

Two Children, Two Journeys

Two children can walk through similar difficulties—and yet grow into very different people. Let’s look at the story of two children. The Child Who Was Held A child was happily walking beside his mother when he suddenly stumbled over a stone and fell. Tears immediately rolled down his cheeks. His mother gently lifted him, wiped his tears, cleaned his wound, and whispered, "It’s nothing, my dear. Just a small wound. You’re safe." Wrapped in her arms, the child slowly calmed down. He learned that when he falls, someone will be there to comfort him. When he is hurt, someone will help him heal. When he is afraid, there will be arms to hold him. And when he needs help, he can ask for it. His world taught him trust, security, and the warmth of love. The Child Who Had to Stand Alone On another road, another child was walking alone. He, too, stumbled over a stone and fell. He looked around. There was no hand reaching out to lift him. No familiar voice asking, "Are you hurt?"...

Karma - A Path to Our Deeds

Our life is revolving around some kind of energy between the cycle of birth and death.  One thing needs to be understood very clearly: Birth is not the beginning - Death is never the end.  We all are connected spiritually and we name that energy as God. It really makes me wonder that people all over the world believe in God, only what differs is the name and religion from place to place like Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Sikhism etc. Somewhere all these religions teach us to do good Karma.  In every country there are certain rules and regulations that one must follow and on not abiding, the person may face legal consequences. Countries impose law and order to provide security and justice for all their citizens and also to maintain peace. Similarly "Karma" - Karma is a law that one needs to follow in spiritual world to achieve that inner peace in one's life. Karma is closely related to your action. It means each and every action combined with your inten...

Rolling the Dice of Life — Every Move Matters

Life is often compared to a journey, but sometimes it feels more like a game of snakes and ladders. Each day, we roll the dice of time, never knowing what number will appear or where it will take us. One moment, you’re climbing a ladder — opportunities open up, joy fills your heart, and you feel unstoppable. The next moment, a snake bite pulls you down — setbacks, disappointments, and struggles remind you that the path is never straight. Yet, the beauty of the game lies in its unpredictability. You can’t control the dice, but every roll is a chance, every move is progress, and every setback is temporary. A snake bite may feel like failure, but it often teaches resilience. A ladder may feel like luck, but it rewards persistence. The dice may seem random, but your endless effort to keep rolling ensures you move forward. In life too, the rule is simple: keep moving with faith. Do not give up, no matter how many snakes cross your path. The next roll may bring a surprise — perhaps a ladder...
