Lord Krishna is said to be the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He took birth on the Earth to free it from the grip of evil. His actions were all intended to serve as lessons for the people who inhabit this planet.
The Lord enacted the famous "Mahabharata" and destroyed Kansa to show that good will always triumph over evil.
Inspite of handling so many duties, Lord Krishna never failed to instruct us on how to live in the present moment and fully appreciate life. Let's take a glance at his early years to learn how he embraced life to the fullest - He is renowned for his playful personality, love for his friends, devotion to his followers and adorable tales of his childhood.
He is referred to as "Natkhat" because he was so mischievous as a child. Hearing tales of his mischief only make people smile and feel ecstatic.
He is also known as "Govinda" because of his intense affection for cows.
He is referred as "Hari". He takes a lot away from his devotees. He removes their discomfort and fear of the perpetual cycle of death and rebirth, to which existence in the physical world is bound.
Krishna was frequently seen playing a flute. This demonstrates his passion for music.
Krishna's flute has mesmerizing melodies that have earned him the appellation "Murlidhara." Hearing his music, Gopis flocked to join him and together they danced with unbridled joy. Their dance is called the "Raas Leela."
The Bhagavad Gita is a dialogue between Arjuna, the best archer and Lord Krishna. The conversation takes place in the midst of a battle where Lord Krishna has imparted many life teachings that one can inculcate in everday life to have a peaceful existence & help us live in the present moment.
Some of the lessons that I hold dear to my heart are:
- The soul is neither born, nor does it ever die; nor having once existed, does it ever cease to be. The soul is without birth, eternal, immortal, and ageless. It is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.
- Everything comes and goes in life; so, do not get attached to materialistic things.
- Everything happens for a purpose or good reason, There is always a cause or reason for everything that occurs in life, and it all works out for the best.
- Anger is the root cause of all failures in a person's life.Anger causes a mist to form over judgement, which confuses recollection. Memory confusion causes the mind to be destroyed, and when the intellect is gone, one is left ruinous.
As a mirror is obscured by dust, so is one's intellect is obscured by anger.
- Even if you are the worst sinner in the world; You can still cross the ocean of Sin; by a bark of (Jnana) wisdom. As the blazing fire burns wood to ashes, so does the fire of true knowledge (Jnana) which will burn all “karmic debt” to ashes
- You can achieve enlightenment via two ways: “prohibition of everything that gives you pride. "
“Accept everything and merge it within you, and become everything”.
Even though he was concerned about the future, he opted to focus only on the here and now.
Let's surrender to Lord Krishna.
If we give ourselves over to Lord Krishna, we will undoubtedly lose many things.
You read it right, if we give in to the ultimate power, we will lose a lot. We shall get rid of everything we don't need (ego, rage, greed, servitude, frustration, and suffering) and obtain everything we do need to live a peaceful, calm and content life.
Surrender fully unto the lotus feet of the Lord.
Sincere devotion to Lord krishna will enable us to lead tranquil lives akin to peacock feathers.
